Sugihouse
Description
When Angie, the founder of Sugihouse, reached out, her work already spoke volumes—one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, meticulously crafted using old-world techniques and modern aesthetics. But the digital experience didn’t reflect that level of refinement. The existing website felt misaligned: cluttered, transactional, and lacking the quiet confidence her pieces deserved. A full experience overhaul was in order.
With a focused scope, I honed in on two key challenges: elevating the overall look and feel to match the luxurious craftsmanship of her work, and redesigning the purchasing flow to be calmer and more intentional. Instead of direct e-commerce, we introduced a made-to-order inquiry model—encouraging conversation over checkout clicks.
Visually, the site was stripped down to the essentials. I designed a system that lets the work breathe—clean layouts, generous negative space, and refined type choices that frame each piece like a gallery object. The result is a slower, more tactile web experience that mirrors the philosophy behind the furniture itself: thoughtful, timeless, and built to last.
